The Valtellina Superiore DOCG is a denomination from the winemaking area of the province of Sondrio. It is an elegant and structured red wine produced from the Nebbiolo vine, known locally as Chiavennasca.
This ethereal expression of Nebbiolo opens with rich density and ripe fruit intensity. Primary hints of rose and violet are combined with evolved but delicate nuances of sweet spices, tobacco and cocoa in a soft, clean and full-bodied taste, with an energetic and persistent freshness. Pretty tones of cola, dried ginger and licorice round out the back and the wine is fresh and well-structured overall with firm, drying tannins.
Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tank; malolactic fermentation and aging for 12 months in large oak casks. Dull garnet red color. The nose shows hints of red fruit, mainly cherry and raspberry, with notes of rose petals. In the mouth it has a medium body, great aromatic agility which also includes fruity aromas, tannins are light as well as acidity.
