Variety: Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: France /Bordeaux/ Right bank/ Castillon - Cotes de Bordeaux
Denis Durantou is considered one of the rising stars of Bordeaux and never stops moving. In addition to wineries in both Pomerol and St. Emilion, Denis continues to demonstrate his Midas touch with Chateau Montlandrie. The Castillon style includes Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc from clay and limestone soils, typical of the Right Bank. Wines in Castillo have a little more tannic decadence, though the wines are still velvety.
A blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2014 Montlandrie has a deep garnet color, with a touch of brick. It bursts from the glass with notes of chocolate mint and black cherry preserves, followed by nuances of blackberry preserves, rose oil, and wild sage, plus a hint of licorice. The medium to full-bodied palate has a firm frame of ripe, rounded tannins and well-knit freshness supporting the muscular black fruits, finishing long with a minty kick.
